My latest screen Print, Dog Days is now available in my shop.
I tried to be a bit more specific with dog breeds here, and used my observations of dogs at markets I have been to lately. So if you have been one of my customers this year, your dog could be in there. I used a lovely crayon-like texture to give the images a lively feel, and the dogs have a quirky amused look. Dogs are funny. As always I tried out different colour combinations. I printed several layers to get all the different colours with a pink background version, and a turquoise background version. The prints are A3 and will fit regular off-the-shelf frames. I think I will be making some more prints in this series, perhaps individual dogs next time, on a smaller scale. New A4 screen print added to my Folksy Shop - Happy Chicken, find it (and variations) here.
I used four screens to print this- the line and black spots were separate. The brushy white background was achieved by modifying an exposed solid shape on the screen by brushing with screen emulsion to give texture, and then setting on the exposure unit. Will be available at my next print fair, Strange Magic 26 July Lewes Town Hall. (see previous post) Printed on Canford Card 300gsm. My latest screen printed cards. I always take a selection of my latest cards to markets and print fairs, including some that don't make it to listings in my shop. There are variations and one offs so you will be buying something that is absolutely original, made by hand, by me.

Based on a painting for a textile design, this is a simplified version. A Variable edition of 20 prints, available here. The print is a combination of screen printing with mono printing, and each print varies in colour. I really enjoyed experimenting with the mono print aspect of this, to play with broken colour and brush stroke effects. See my Folksy shop for available prints here. My favourite things this year. (so far)
I made lots of prints of Happy Dogs, on different types of fabric, over two print runs. The first batch was the same print as my t-shirt, but I had designed it to be able to print it twice side by side to make a repeat. However, cutting out purses resulted in some leftover scraps which i thought was a bit wasteful. (some dog butts) The second print run, I re-designed it, and printed a larger screen, so I could cut it up into purses specifically, without any wastage, making sure a different dog was in each rectangle. I am working things out as I go along! Both times I printed on lots of different fabrics, lovely soft linen, panama cotton, cotton gingham, usually offcuts that I have gathered together. I adjusted colours to fit the fabric. I really like mixing inks, it is very satisfying, but sometimes I use an ink that someone else has abandoned, makes me look at things a different way. Some of the best ones have been unexpected combinations of colours. So everyone who bought one got a unique purse (printed lining too!) These are a selection of the ones I have done so far, some are still available in my shop on Folksy. I take whatever I have to markets, the week before a market is sewing week! it is interesting to see which ones people choose. Thank you to everyone who has bought one so far, it means a lot to me that people like them! Find my current range of available purses here. . I have designed and printed a new range of cards featuring dogs...and tomatoes. Very short print runs, subject to change/whim! The beauty of printing my own cards is that I can change the colours/card stock as I go, trying out different combinations, see how I like it. So these cards might not be around very long in this form- if you like 'em get 'em while you can. Square cards and rectangular cards, available here. I have two types of prints in my shop Happy Tomato (and on my stall) digital and screen printed, and they have different qualities, and a totally different look. I like both for different reasons. I'll tell you why...
My second range of tea towels are now in my shop. Some of the first range are now out of stock, but the designs may reappear later (LoveCats, I'm looking at you...)
The latest range includes the brand new Lucky Cats, and Happy Bunnies. Perfect for adding fun and colour to your kitchen, or for a housewarming gift. All printed in the UK on 309gsm half Panama cotton, really thick and sturdy, with great print quality, the colours are great! These are my first homewares prints, although I have produced a lot of fashion prints in the past. There are lots of wonderful inexpensive prints available to decorate your home and work space (mine included!) However, framing is very EXPENSIVE! If you have gone to the trouble of finding something fun bright, and contemporary you don't want to ruin the look/break your budget with costly framing, starchy mouldings and bland mounts do you?
There are lots of options to display your prints in fun ways without spending a lot of cash. |
